What should believers do when we disagree with our neighbors about the very nature of humanity?
The following article (click here) by Dr. Owen Strachan was recently featured in Answers Magazine.
With all the gender ideologies being pushed more and more every day in America, it’s almost impossible to go a day without being bombarded with it from either the media, co-workers, or even family and/or church members.
So, what do we, as Christians do? How do we respond? Can we tell the fact from fiction? The actual science from the heresay? Most importantly; what does the Word of God say?
The article states “The first man and first woman were not evolved from gases; they were designed to maximally honor God according to their distinctive body and constitution. Your body, we conclude, is not raw material that you manipulate to fit your perceived identity, whatever that may be.” “…we must never approve of sin while we engage with unbelievers, including those embracing a transgender identity. We should explicitly call them out of a life of lostness, graciously directing them to leave behind cross-dressing, false gender identity, and other trappings of a transgender lifestyle.”
The article offers the following sub-titles and sections:
First: We need to know what the Bible teaches about the sexes.
Second: We need to make clear our desire for all people to flourish.
Third: We need to contend in public for Biblical truth.
This last section has the following sub-categories: 1. We need to make clear that society depends on certain hard-and-fast realities. 2. We need to show how biology is actually quite clear on these matters. 3. We must consider the natural desire to be affirmed, which is truly the quest of our age.
There is even a sort of transgender dictionary at the end of the article with defiinitions of terrms that some readers may not be completely familiar with.
Keep in mind whilst reading how we can practically apply the teachings of the gospel presented in this article as they may arise in our daily lives.
